We will be discuss:

* What is Energy therapy and
* We will have a mini class and experiences similar to what happens in a class.

What is Mindfulness?
Mindfulness is awareness of your thoughts, feelings, sensations and processes in the here-and-now, moment-by-moment. It is being aware of how you may be feeling, what emotions and sensations are coming up for you and that awareness leading to an acceptance of such thoughts, however positive or negative they may be. Mindfulness encourages participants to understand that nobody is ever wrong with their thoughts, feelings or internal processes.
Mindful practice has come largely from Buddhist and Eastern teachings and has become more mainstream and Westernised since the early 2000’s, from people like Jon Kabat-Zinn, who largely incorporated mindful practice into modern-day psychology.
There are many types of mindful practice. You just have to have a look on Google, Youtube or other internet-based searches and there are countless ways to practice mindfulness.
Generally, mindfulness is seen differently from meditation. Mindfulness is seen as a way of being and being in the moment mindfully, and meditation is just one, deeper way of practicing being mindful.
What is Meditation?
Meditation allows a deeper practice into thoughts, and consciousness than in mindfulness-based work. Meditation often involves going into deeper states of subconscious and unconscious states. Often relaxation is involved and participants may chant, lie down, or sit still for a period of time for meditative practice.
Meditation can help to build your energy. Buddhists suggest meditation helps you to develop more compassion, love, patience, gratitude and forgiveness, especially self-forgiveness. There are many loving kindness and compassionate meditations that are practiced by meditation participants.
Meditation goes further than mindful practice to assist to clear the mind. Mindfulness is being aware of your thoughts and your mind processes. Meditation goes further to allow your repetitive thoughts or ways of being to completely leave your mind.
Meditation involves a process of going deeper into your mind-heart process and finding yourself through that.
Meditation can be a way of connecting to the divine in yourself and others - a way of mutual connection to others, yourself and the divine. It is different to prayer, as prayer generally only one-way communication to God or of the divine.
What is Prayer? : Prayer is different to meditation
Prayer is a request of God or the Divine, usually directly speaking with God, Goddess or the divine ultimate energy. Meditation is being in communion with the divine. Christians and Eastern religions do this in similar and different ways. Though prayer is only one-way, as stated above.
Meditative practices in the Christian faith often happens by use of songs, Gregorian chanting and the energy of the church parishioners themselves. Buddhist teaching suggests chanting and ongoing, regular meditation by yourself or in a group assists with being in communion with the divine.
Prayer does not have to be religious, it is just a request of God, the Divine, or your higher power. It is literally handing your problems over to a source greater than yourself.

Feeling tired or stressed out? …. It’s simple - Breathe
It’s important for optimal energy, health and wellbeing that we all have adequate oxygen throughout our body and mind. For optimal blood production and energy throughout your whole being, we need to be breathing properly.
How can we function or live without our breath?
How much focus do we put on our breath everyday?
Not enough, that’s for sure. Our breath is our life force, our life energy.
Our breath is how we started our life and we cannot continue to live without our breath!
For a small change in your life, I would ask you to notice your breathing – is it fast or slow, is it laboring or rapid?
Take some time to notice it and sit while you’re reading this for a moment to notice your breath.
Breathe in through your nose and breathe out through your mouth. You don’t need deep stomach breathing to have adequate breath, however it needs to be slow, methodical and make you feel alive!
One breathing technique I get clients and participants of my groups to do is to notice their breath by thinking about any stresses they are having at the moment and focus on that and breathe those stresses out on the exhale of the breath. Then when you breathe in, you breathe in the sun, the clouds, the trees, rainbows, butterflies, flowers or other beauty you can rely on. And keep continuing that for just a few minutes – breathe out your stress and breathe in goodness.
Our breath therefore determines our health. Think for a second, someone who is panicky – is often so stressed that their breathing has either become too rapid or is inadequately functioning whilst they are having such an attack. Whilst it can be difficult to alleviate a panic attack once it happens, controlled and slowed breathing can help be the ‘prevention’ for next time. Often prevention is better than cure in these cases.
Why are the classes good for you?
Modern life has brought a huge amout of stress into people's lives. I see stressed out clients in my counselling practice and in everyday life and know what works and what doesn't!
More and more we need to have outlets for self-care. Heart & Soul Movement offers much needed self-care with compassion, insight and warmth.
My Heart & Soul Movement classes work with your breath, your life force, voice expression and movement of your body. These classes do this as well as connecting you to yourself and your soul again.
Why not learn to meditate in a creative new way! I utilise meditative dance, group energy, chakra balancing, music and song, soul expression, mindful practice and deep meditations. These all form the basis of Heart & Soul Movement workshops, classes and sessions.

Hello everyone and welcome to the Heart & Soul Movement blog!
After starting my groups this year, I have had a number of questions and I thought I would clarify some things for you...
FAQ 1. What is it that you do?
Answer: My classes combine movement, therapy, meditation, healing practices, dance and song and are either presented as workshops, sessions or classes. Generally, my workshops and classes combine the following: debriefing time where we reflect on how the practices are working for us, light exercise where we move around the room, soul dancing (with your own moves, not mine) and finish with healing, deep somatic or chakra-based meditations.
I also work with the energy in the room, the feelings that come up for people, self-esteem, self-love, self-worth and self-compassion matters and work on personal growth of participants. The energy of the room is a very powerful element for the healing process of the participants.
Then you could say the workshops and classes are like yoga meeting dance with emphasis on you dancing from your soul, with meditation and mindful practices along the way.
FAQ 2: Where are your classes being held?
Answer: At the moment I have classes at Lotus in Wollongong and I will be expanding to the Northern Illawarra and Southern Sydney.
FAQ 3. What if I can't get to your classes or workshops (e.g. the days don't suit, or I don't have enough time)?
Answer: In the future, I will be offering fee-paying online courses and that will hopefully be sooner rather than later. Though, like any dance or movement practice, it can be difficult for students to see a teacher through Skype or other video conferencing if the facilitator is moving, or if she can't see the attendees well.
At the moment, I haven't launched anything on Youtube or any video streaming sites, however I will in future. These classes combine many of my skills, so I cannot offer them all for free on Youtube. I may offer some 'taster' videos on Youtube in the future.
FAQ 4. What if I can't dance or move well?
Answer: That doesn't matter at all. You choose to move your body as much or as little as you like! The practices are for you, not for anyone else. It's getting in touch with who you are and feeling good inside your body, mind and soul.
